General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

We have an exciting opportunity for a UAV Specialist within our US Marine Corps group. This position supports the fleet of USMC MQ-9A aircraft, including systems at domestic and overseas sites, providing hands-on technical support for fleet training exercises, and maintenance and troubleshooting efforts. This position also provides technical reach back support to the customer, interfacing with GA-ASI and customer teams as needed.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Represents GA-ASI at customer training events, will be the primary focal point for real time technical support, to ensure mission readiness of GA aircraft systems.
  • Manages sustainment of deployed aircraft and ground systems, leading on-site maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
  • Supports information requests from partners, including customer engineering and program leadership.
  • Contributes to technical trade studies that feed into long range planning of system configuration, and technology roadmap.
  • Interfaces with GA functional engineering teams in support of technical investigations.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

  • Typically requires education or formal training equivalent to the completion of a bachelor's degree and nine or more years of professional engineering/military technical experience and/or professional in-depth engineering/military documentation experience. Equivalent professional engineering/military technical experience or military operations and maintenance experience may be substituted in lieu of education/training.
  • Must demonstrate a comprehensive and thorough understanding of the engineering/military principles underlying the technology, an excellent working knowledge of the engineering development process, and a thorough understanding of logistic support analysis, principles and procedures.
  • Ability to work both independently and lead in a team environment is essential.
  • Ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Ability to obtain a maintain a DoD secret security clearance.
  • Must possess:
    • Ability to develop, acquire, interpret and communicate engineering technical data.
    • Ability to develop and communicate new concepts and apply them in an evolving environment.
    • Ability to organize, schedule and coordinate work phases and determine the appropriate approach at the task or project level.
    • Excellent leadership and organization skills in order to work with management and customers and represent the organization.
    • Ability to identify issues and develop innovative solutions to a variety of complex technical problems.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to accurately analyze, document, present and report recommendations.
    • Excellent knowledge of computer operations and applications.
